Over 1 year of The Settlers Alliance

It’s been a little bit over a year since we launched The Settlers Alliance and announced the new The Settlers. The plan to share insights into the development of this new installment of the series with you, our community, filled the website with life:

Blogs introducing game mechanics and buildings of the new The Settlers, the launch of the The Settlers History Collection together with guides and additional info as well as tons of screenshots and gameplay videos are now available for you to read.

On top of that, you wrote hundreds of comments with feedback, suggestions and questions around The Settlers, created videos and streams.

Therefore, here is a big thank you for all the input and support we received from you over the last year. This is what the The Settlers Alliance is about and what keeps us motivated.

Until the release of the game in 2020 there are still many things we want to show you and many questions we want to answer. This means many more dev blogs, community votes, videos and streams.

We’re excited for the coming months and are looking forward to seeing The Settlers Alliance grow even further.

To celebrate the anniversary and recap gamescom 2019 we’ve done a live stream this week showing live gameplay of the new The Settlers. If you missed it – don’t worry. You can find the VOD below:

Dear Developers and Publishers of The Settlers,

Civ 6 has just been announced to be coming out on consoles in Nov this year. This comes shortly after another grand strategy game, Age of Wonders Planetfall, was simultaneously released on PC, PS4 and Xbox.

Civ 6 and and Planetfall will not be lonesome strategy games on consoles, but will have a warm welcome from PC strategy game companions like; Cities Skylines, Surviving Mars and Stellaris to name a few.

As you can see there has been a recent explosion of PC strategy games coming to PS4 and Xbox and it appears they have been very well received judging by the ratings. I have had great fun playing them myself.

Playing on the controller has not only not caused me any problems, but I find the dual sticks to be very good for getting around the map easily and the buttons acting as good shortcuts to in-game windows and commands.

Settlers was the first game I had to myself along with Dungeon Keeper. It is one of my fondest childhood memories. I unfortunately am not in the strongest of financial positions and cannot afford a gaming PC to get the new Settlers, however I do have a PS4 and it would be a fantastic new memory to see the new Settlers coming to where I am; playing great strategy games where I can get them, on my console.

    Best wishes,
    Stuart the Settler (UK)

I noticed from the video that you could ‘boost’ a particular building such as a Sawmill so it employed additional labour. Is there going to be a way to prioritise the construction of a particular building? Such as if you forget to build a sawmill and then realise and you’re about to run out of planks.. in Settlers 7 you could prioritise the sawmill. I noticed that you are using the concept of ‘tools’ again. One of the things I liked about Settlers 7 over some of it’s predecessors was the ‘macro’ economic settings. IE you could focus the economy on Military development or religious or construction. This worked quite well for the most part although some finer manipulation would have been useful as in the supply chain prioritisation of Settlers 2 I think it was.
    Keep up the good works!
